We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to a new school year. Our names are Troy Bloxsidge, Teliah Turrill, and Emma Linton and we are the respective Year 7, Year 8, and Year 9/10 Coordinators for 2021. We are looking forward to getting to know you and your child throughout the coming year, which we are sure will bring many new experiences and challenges.
Our role in the school fits within the Student Services team to provide pastoral care for the students. If students or parents/guardians have any issues or concerns within the school, we aim to be your first point of call. Some of the issues that we can address include; bullying, social issues, peer relations, staff/student relations, student/family relations, and academic performance. We can also conduct progress reports so that you are aware of how your child is performing at school.
Our role also includes the monitoring of Good Standing and the implementation of reward activities. The Good Standing policy is based on the three school values, Personal Best, Integrity, and Respect. To ensure your child remains in Good Standing please refer to the policy outlined on page 10 of the school diary. Some of the points to consider include; unexplained absences. If you are aware that your child is going to be absent please inform the school either via their diary, a note, or a phone call. Three unexplained absences will mean that your child has lost their Good Standing until they have been explained.
During Form each week we will be working through a program of wellbeing activities which are also located within the school diary from page 129. These will assist students in developing goals, managing their time effectively, and gaining a better understanding of peer relationships and resilience. To ensure that your child can take part in these activities it is essential that they do not lose their diary, replacements are approximately $13.
Another important aspect of the school diary involves both parents/guardians and form teachers signing the school diary on a weekly basis. This will allow us to monitor student diary usage and encourage easier Parent/Teacher communication. There is more information regarding this on page 4 of the student diary.
We look forward to working with you and your child this year and we aim to ensure that they have a positive school year. Please feel free to contact us via the details below. Please be mindful that we do teach classes throughout the day, so should we miss your call, we will endeavor to get back to you by the end of the day. We can also be contacted via email.
